Donating to Transition Stirling
Nothing we do could happen without the support of this community
At Transition Stirling, we believe every item deserves a second chance. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we make that happen every day! We accept a wide range of donated goods, ensuring they’re function-tested, safety-checked, and ready to be reused, repurposed, or upcycled.
We work hand-in-hand with Stirling Council, local charities, and community teams to make sure no useful item goes to landfill, and that everyone in Stirling has access to the things they need. Every item you donate, and every purchase you make, helps us continue our work to protect the environment, support local people, and promote a more circular economy.
As a reuse charity, we follow high standards and are supported by Revolve (Zero Waste Scotland’s support programme for the reuse sector in Scotland). To help us keep quality high and waste low, please ensure donations are:
Clean
Damage and rust free
From a smoke-free home
Complete and in full working order
What can you donate?
We do our best to keep our donation list as up to date as possible, but they are subject to change at short notice depending on recent donations and stock levels. We are very happy to assist you at the donation door, or you can call or email.
To keep things simple for everyone, we use an easy to access ‘Traffic Light’ system
Items we can never accept
In addition to the items on our red or amber list below, we cannot take any items which are broken, damaged, incomplete or not clean
We would love to save every good quality item that could be reused. Sadly we are limited by warehouse space. This means if we have a lot of one thing, we may have to put a pause on accepting it.These items will go on our ‘Amber list’, which gets updated weekly
Our full list of the things we accept as donations - remember any of these can be added to the AMBER list when we have an excess of stock
Why we sometimes say no
We pay £160 per tonne to dispose of items we can't use, so we carefully check all donations to meet Revolve standards, make sure we have space, and that we can reuse or resell them.
We’re always grateful for your support, and while we can’t accept everything, we’ll do our best to suggest other reuse options when we can. Thanks for helping us keep great stuff in use and out of landfill!
How you can help
You can help by thoroughly cleaning items before donating and ensuring that they are in good condition. We can do small repairs subject to the availability of staff or volunteers.
Thank you for your understanding when we cannot take items. We will always do our best to suggest alternative options to reuse them.
How to Donate
1
Check your items
Make sure they are clean, complete, safe, and not on the Red or Amber lists.
Bring them to the donations door
Go to the roller shutter door at Stirling Reuse Hub. If the shutter is closed, please ring the bell and a staff member will help you.
2
We check your items
Reusable items are checked over to make sure we can accept your donation, then sort them into categories

If we can't accept something
Unfortunately, any items that we cannot take will need to be returned to you. We’ll suggest alternative reuse solutions where possible.

Donating Large Furniture?
We can uplift furniture within 15miles of the hub for a charge of £25 per van load. Please send an email to reuse@transitionstirling.org.uk, with a few photos of the furniture you'd like to donate, along with dimensions so we can assess if we can rehome it. Uplifts of furniture are subject to location, demand and condition of items. Please include as much information as you can in your email - this allows us to deal with your enquiry as quickly as we can.
