I'm passionate about nature and helping to protect the world around us for the benefit of all. Helping to give goods a second life is such an important part of this by reducing waste to landfill, supporting communities, and livelihoods.

The teams at Transition Stirling and our partner organisations do incredible work to make second life goods and skills accessible to so many in the community. It's an honour and a privilege to volunteer alongside them, to learn from them, and help support Stirling in this way.

I have recently taken on the role of Head of National Cycle Network Delivery for Scotland, Cymru and Northern Ireland at Sustrans. We are the charity making it easier for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle and are the creators and custodians of the National Cycle Network. I have 12 years' experience working in Active Travel managing significant grant funding to deliver major walking, wheeling and cycling projects, and have developed a wide range of skills including programme, change, risk and financial management.

I have always had a wider interest in sustainability and the circular economy and having moved to Stirling in 2020 have made great use of the excellent services provided by the re-use hub and tool library (now library of things). I'm excited to be able to support Transition Stirling as a trustee and look forward to seeing the organisation go from strength to strength.

I started working in Stirling in 2008 for the Children's Reporter and moved here in 2019. Acting sustainably and responsibly for the environment is not just something to be done at a national or global level, it needs to happen at an individual and community level. I'm delighted to be able to promote this by being a trustee with Transition Stirling. My background in governance, and financial and risk management, gives me skills and experience that I am privileged to share with the charity so that every contributor and volunteer can have some assurance that their contribution is valued and put to good use.

    TRUSTEE

I'm Rebecca, a Chartered HR professional and a Stirling local who genuinely believes in what Transition Stirling is building — and in rethinking ownership culture as a route to more sustainable living.

Last summer, I found myself needing to get my hands on a scarifier and came across the tool library, only to discover I'd been beaten to it by what seemed like every aspiring gardener in the Stirling area. From that point, it became clear that the projects run by TS meant that nearly every indoor and outdoor pursuit was catered for. From paddleboards to lighting to paint - you can borrow or avoid buying new.

I joined the board because I wanted to contribute something during a period of growing impact for TS. With 15 years in people, culture, and operations — and a stint leading ESG and sustainability strategy at a deep-tech startup — I bring experience in growing organisations with purpose. At Transition Stirling, that means helping the charity develop the governance structures and people practices it needs to thrive in its next chapter.
