Upcycling Fashion sessions (1 of 4) - Denim & Jeans

  • Transition Stirling Unit 12, Stirling Arcade FK8 1AX Scotland (map)

The first group of sessions on up-cycling fashion starts with a Denim & Jeans theme.  There are four sessions in all.  Session two, Knitwear & T-shirts, is on Saturday 8th May, session three, Coats & Jackets, is on Saturday 17th June and session four, Shoes, Boots & Bags is on Saturday 1st July.

These sessions are perfect for anyone who wants to make great use of and update worn out clothing or soft furnishings and bedding. We will have examples, pieces to inspire you and visuals for you to get inspiration from.  We will concentrate on 4 key areas: Denim, knits, outerwear, and footwear and bags. We will go through a variety of techniques with lots of inventive ways to up cycle. As always there will be the suggested "bring along" and the end of session information "takeaway".

This session will cover: anything made from denim!

We will look at the ways of up cycling denim jeans, skirts, shorts, dress, work belt(from jeans) - ladies gents and kids, apron -from jeans or shirt, hanging organisers from jeans and a coat hanger, bags, toys, draft excluders, and doorstops.

There will be examples to inspire you to get started on your own project.

*The "bring along"* : if possible bring any article of denim clothing that you'd like to upcycle and any scraps of fabric or old clothes and bits and pieces that you want to try to incorporate into your own special design! (If you'd like to try the doorstop or draft excluder a clean old pillow, single duvet or old sweater would also be needed.)

We'd love to see you at our sessions - if you are able to attend more than one you'll see that although they are all structured individually they all link up over the year - they are repeated so if you can't get on to the first set of sessions try to book ahead to make sure you get onto the next one scheduled. We are sure the sessions will help, encourage and inspire you to reduce, reuse and re cycle as much of your clothing and textiles as possible!

*£5 workshop fee applies.
