These are really great workshops if you've never sewn anything before but really want to get started. Each session will concentrate on a few bite sized areas with basic stitches and information and practical work on hand and machine sewing. There will be a couple of slightly more advanced things introduced in the basics sessions to give you an idea of further sewing techniques. Each session will review what the previous one did and progress to build a library for you to have access to. Lots of great projects to try out from the very first session. We are encouraging the use of old fabrics to minimise waste and each session will have a suggested "bring along" together with an end of session information "takeaway". There will be examples for you to see and each step will be demonstrated.
We will do a brief recap of session 1 and 2 revising if needed, then move on to looking at a bias bound hem, a French seam, an overlocked seam and a hand stitched buttonhole (we will try these too if time and skill allow) don't worry if you didn't get along to the first or second basics workshops we will go over the subjects in them if you were not able to go to the previous sessions.
*The "bring along" : any scrap fabric or old garment no longer used, old pillowcases/sheets cotton and polyester cotton are good stable materials to practise on.
Free workshop.
